Now let us get into the tips that are beneficial to improve your posture:

(NOTE: I would appreciate if you check all the links after you have finished reading my blog entirely)

1. WEARING THE RIGHT FOOTWEAR

Well it is not a surprise that as much as those pretty heels can make you look like one of those VS models, it is scientifically proved to be equally or more harmful for your back.

When you wear heels, your entire body’s weight is placed on the ball of your foot and your heel is used only for balance.

Not wearing the right footwear can lead to bad posture which can further lead to chronic health problems.

Let just save those pretty heels for your best night. Until then wear the right footwear to college or work that makes you feel comfortable.

Use cushion slippers on a regular basis to avoid soreness in your feet.

If would like to purchase footwear cushions recommended by me, I have given some products below. Please have a look.

2. PRACTICE GOOD POSTURE WHILE STANDING

Follow these easy steps to practice a good posture while standing

  • Keep your shoulders back
  • Stand straight
  • Stretch little if you feel stiffness anywhere in the body
  • Use wall to correct your posture
  • Use posture corrector

Healthline has created a 30 day calendar on Every Woman’s Guide to Better Posture

3. PRACTICE A GOOD POSTURE WHILE SITTING

Practising good posture while you are sitting becomes very important if you have a sedentary lifestyle.

  • Sit straight
  • You can use a Lumbar Cushion
  • Don’t slouch
  • Stretch if you feel your body has become too stiff
  • Don’t sit in one position for too long

4. PRACTICE A GOOD POSTURE WHILE LYING DOWN

While sleeping we prefer sleeping in a comfortable position. Sleeping in a wrong position can lead to back pain, neck pain, etc.

Many times I have heard people saying that the pain/stiffness/soreness they are experiencing is because they slept wrong. Sometimes sleeping on a couch or uncomfortable pillow can cause discomfort to your body.

Coastal Orthopaedics made an amazing blog Practice a correct sleeping position. These are some easy steps you can add to your sleeping routine that can help you to maintain a good posture. Check this out after you have finished reading my blog.

5. KEEP A REMINDER

Now I know this may sound crazy but I figured out that keeping a track of this might be a very onerous job. Neverthless I believe that this technique will aid you to better your posture.

  • Go on your reminder app
  • Set a reminder for few weeks until you’ve developed a habit to stay without it.

It is so much easier this way.

6. MAINTAIN A HEALTHY WEIGHT

Both being overweight and underweight can lead to a bad posture. Not just bad posture but numerous other health problems.

Watch what you eat. Keep a track of your diet.

Scientifically speaking, having unhealthy posture can affect your physical as well as your mental health.

Keep working on your body everyday to keep it healthy. Not for pictures, not to impress others but for the goodness of your own sake.

Healthy isn’t a goal, it is a way of living.

7. DO NOT SLOUCH!

As much as it sounds comfy, DO NOT SLOUCH!

It seems difficult to keep this in mind because most of us have developed this habit to slouch during lectures, meetings, etc

Usually this happens when you are bored. I have noticed that somehow slouching is associated with losing interest and feeling dull.

Many of us has experienced this during our lectures or meetings. The more you sit straight, the more attention you can pay and the moment you slouch in split seconds you loose interest from that particular topic.

“Confident people do not slouch” – well I am not so sure about it, but if this works then I am cool with it.

“Good posture can be successfully acquired only when the entire mechanism of the body is under perfect control.”Joseph Pilates

8. SAY NO TO “TEXT NECK”

We live in a world of technology. I understand the importance of technology these days and there are people doing full time job on their mobile phone/laptop/tablets/computers.

While working on laptop or mobile, the head and neck are in flexion position which can lead to neck and shoulder pain (pain is experienced in occipital and cervical region).

Signs and symptoms of Text neck

  • Neck Pain
  • Occipital headache
  • Reduced mobility

I experienced a similar kind of pain few days back because of the excessive work that needed to be done on laptop.

I tried this NECK PAIN STRETCHES & EXERCISE BY AskDoctorJo and I am not kidding it was such a huge relief.

Thanks Dr. Jho ♡

9. EXERCISE

BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA

Green tea was originated in China.

Green tea was discovered by Emperor Shennong who is a mythical philosopher and a popular figure in the mythology of Chinese agriculture and medicine.

Green tea is one of the most healthiest beverages on earth.

Here I give you all 9 proved benefits of Green tea

1. IT MAY REDUCE THE RISK OF CANCER

Green tea is an excellent source of potent antioxidants. These antioxidants can help protect against oxidative damage.

In simple words there is something called as ‘free radicals’ that damage our tissues. It’s like rust forming on an iron. Now what these antioxidants do is they prevent that rust from forming on an iron. Similarly antioxidants help by protecting our tissues against oxidative damage.

Green tea is rich in catechin polyphenols, in particular epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is a powerful antioxidant.

These polyphenols are very powerful and have anti cancer activities.

A study showed that EGCG enhances the effects of ginseng compounds in the inhibition of the colon cancer cell growth.

Along with that green tea also reduces the risk of cancers of breast, prostate, lung, stomach, liver and colorectal.

2. IT MAY HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT

Green tea helps in burning fat and helps in boosting your metabolism.

Our body has different types of fats and green tea promotes breakdown of stubborn belly fat.

Green tea also reduces your appetite which will make you consume fewer calories automatically. Although this entirely depends on an individual’s appetite and still there is a conflict between studies on this topic but many studies have shown that green tea definitely helps you to lose weight.

3. RELIEVE STRESS AND ANXIETY

Have you ever noticed that when you drink green tea or herbal tea, it instantly lift your mood and has some magical calming effect on your mind?

Well, Green tea is high in L-theanine, an amino acid that might reduce anxiety. Relaxation effect is because component of green tea promotes alpha wave production.

Green tea has calming effect on your mind and has good results when it comes relieving stress, anxiety, depression and your overall mental health.

Also green tea contains much less caffeine than black tea.

A study found that students who drink green tea experiences lower level of stress than those who don’t.

4. IT MAY HELP PREVENT TYPE-2 DIABETES

Type 2 diabetes is a chronic medical condition in which sugar or glucose levels build up in your bloodstream. Type 2 diabetes develops when the body becomes resistance to insulin or when the pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin. Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas that help you to keep your blood sugar level from getting too high or too low.

A study in Japan revealed that those people who drank green tea had lower risk of type 2 diabetes compared to normal tea drinkers.

Again the antioxidants present in green tea helps reduce the effects of insulin resistance by decreasing the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates.

We all know that people with diabetes have problems with metabolising sugar.

Green tea help sensitise cells so they are able to metabolise sugar.

5. PREVENT BAD BREATH

Many of us constantly chew flavoured sugar gums or mints to combat bad breath.

Again the abundant antioxidants in green tea helps cleanse the bacteria from your mouth which makes green tea a very good remedy for bad breath. It has antibacterial effects that reduces bacteria in the mouth that causes bad breath and gives you a refreshing feeling throughout the day.

Green tea has high levels of fluoride that prevents tooth decay and helps you to maintain good oral hygiene.

6. IT MAY HELP PREVENT CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE

Drinking green tea is a good news to your heart. It reduces the risk of heart attacks.

Studies have shown that green tea may lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and that reduces risk of death from heart disease and stroke.

Green tea extract keeps arteries clogged-free.

Along with green tea you should also try ginger tea as it is good for your heart.

(The drawback of this research is that it was carried out in a laboratory not in real-life setting)

7. LOWERS YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE

Green tea extracts possess antioxidants and ACE-inhibitor properties.

Like I said before it has cardioprotective effect and evidence showed that it is associated with blood vessel relaxation.

Green tea consumption causes significant reduction in the systolic blood pressure.

(Although it showed no significant effects on diastolic blood pressure)

But yes it definitely helps in lowering your blood pressure and maintaining good health.

8. GOOD FOR SKIN

So now we know that green tea contains a lot of antioxidant that also fights DNA damage from ultraviolet rays and also prevent skin cancer.

It also reduces redness and it is a good hydrating mask to apply on your face.

It contains vitamin B2 and vitamin E which are important for maintaining good skin health.

Vitamin B2 plays an important role in maintaining collagen levels for good skin structure and firmness whereas vitamin E supports new skin cell growth and gives a nourished skin

So I hope in this blog you understood the possible health benefits of green tea. Now let’s get into some side effects of green tea.

SIDE EFFECTS OF GREEN TEA

In some individuals side effects of green tea are seen, so I do not want to ignore this part.

1. Drinking green tea on an empty stomach can cause an upset stomach. Green tea has polyphenols known as tannins that increase stomach acid, which further leads to stomachache, nauseous feeling, burning sensation, diarrhoea or even constipation. You must drink green tea in between meals or after a meal.

2. If you take anti-coagulant drugs I suggest you consult your doctor before taking green tea.

3. It may also cause insomnia.

4. Green tea seems to reduce the absorption of iron from food.

Also I would like to clear that there is always a conflict between whether the research or studies are proved or no but not everything needs to be proved 100% because we still see great effects on our body by consuming green tea.

Green tea has more benefits than side-effects so I would recommend that you make green tea a regular part of your life but don’t over do it. It is acceptable if you are a normal tea drinker, you can still drink green tea occasionally if you want.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BUY GREEN RECOMMENDED BY ME, I HAVE GIVEN SOME LINK BELOW AND I WILL ONLY RECOMMEND THE BEST GREEN TEA!

5 BEST TIPS ON HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT AT HOME

You didn’t gain your weight in one day; you won’t lose it in one day. Be patient with yourself

– Jenna Wolfe

Hello Readers , I hope you all are doing well! So before getting into the tips on how to lose weight during quarantine, first let’s understand what are the types of fats and different ways that your gaining weight during quarantine.

TYPES OF FATS

HOW YOU ARE GAINING WEIGHT DURING THIS QUARANTINE

• Consuming excess of calories. Basically excess calories are stored throughout your body as fat. Your body stores this fats within specialised fat cells (adipose tissue)

• Consuming unhealthy food

• Sitting in one place for too long

• Disturbed sleep pattern

• Lack of physical activity

TIPS ON HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT DURING QUARANTINE

1. ADD PROTEIN TO YOUR DIET

You need to understand why everyone gives so much importance to proteins when it comes to losing weight, that is because by replacing fats and carbs with protein, you can reduce the hunger hormone and boost several satiety hormones. This leads to major reduction in hunger. And that’s how proteins help you lose weight.

I’ve given a list of food high in protein and easy recipes that you can consume throughout your quarantine in right quantity.

→ Non-veg:

• Boiled eggs

• Fish (tuna, salmon, herring are some healthy fish)

• Chicken salad (Preferably boneless chicken or chicken breast)

(IMPORTANT NOTE- TRY TO AVOID NON-VEG DURING THIS CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK)

→ Veg:

• Tofu. (Healthy tofu with stir fried vegetables)

• Lentils

Click here for “One Pot Lentil Recipe”

• Nuts (walnut, pistachios, almonds, cashews, brazil nuts) Whenever you feel hungry and crave unhealthy snacks, consume any of these to give you a feeling of fullness, that way you won’t consume unhealthy food that will add fats to your body

• Peanut butter

• Whole grains

• Yoghurt

• Vegetable salad

2. EXERCISE

Now by exercise I don’t mean that you have to exercise like an athlete. It’s fine if you don’t want to exercise like that. I understand that not everyone has the privacy to exercise in their own house + not everyone will follow everything that is written on the internet. So keeping all this points in my head I will give you the most easiest yet effective exercise that you can do in your house even after this quarantine ends.

Skipping is an excellent way to reduce weight in the house.

Dancing. There are so many forms of dancing like zumba, hip-hip, freestyle. Any form of dance definitely reduces your weight.

• Walking. DO NOT IGNORE THIS. Walking in your own house for 30 minutes everyday especially after your meals is easiest way to lose weight during quarantine. Do this especially after your meals because during quarantine there is lack of physical activity so people tend to sit or sleep after their meals directly which is unhealthy for your body. So walk for 30 mins and see the difference.

• Yoga. There are so many asanas you can to reduce weight and yoga improve your metabolism as well.

• Crunches to reduce belly fats

• Planks to tighten your belly

3. GET A GOOD 7-8 HOURS OF SLEEP

The reason why I’m giving so much importance to sleep during quarantine is because disturbed sleep pattern can highly affect your entire digestive system and your health. If you do not sleep well, your appetite will be affected to a great extent.

Research has shown that lack of sleep can lead to weight gain. Also, sleep deprivation reduces leptin hormone that helps to regulate energy balance by inhibiting hunger.

Over sleeping on the other hand is equally unhealthy because your missing your breakfast which is the most important part to start your day. Most of the schedules during quarantine include getting up at 1-2 pm and having breakfast at 3 pm and then skipping lunch and hoping onto your dinner. I won’t say anything but ask yourself is this healthy? Is this helpful to you anyway? And if you continue to do this same, you might wanna say Hie! to mental health problems. Let’s wish you never say hie to that buddy but incase if you get there so in advance here’s my another blog on how to reduce stress during quarantine. (Thank me later ♥)

HOW TO REDUCE STRESS DURING QUARANTINE

4. PLEASE DON’T LAY DOWN AND EAT

Do you remember your parents scolding you and saying something like “Don’t lay down and eat, orelse the food will get stuck in your chest ” Well they are not completely wrong, Eating while laying down is not just adding fats to your belly but at the same time eating lying down may increase the risk of developing gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), where the stomach’s content return back up into the oesophagus through the oesophageal sphincter, that controls the passage of food from the throat to the stomach.

Eating while laying down causes weight gain because your metabolisms slows down.

Now you know why you shouldn’t lay down and eat. So don’t lay down and eat.

5. WATCH YOUR DIET

I know lockdown is making some of us feel hungry all the time. But at some point even your parents won’t allow you to eat oily unhealthy food everyday no matter how long this quarantine is. I am not telling you to stop completely, because we all know “tasty food can heal broke hearts”, but make sure that you’re not consuming excess of unhealthy deep fried grilled foods. Sounds delicious, but you have to fight your food cravings if you want to reduce weight.

Here are the few healthy food and drinks that you can have instead of processed food and fizzy drinks because trust me those processed food and drinks are really harming your pretty body.

• Roasted chana with chopped onions, tomatoes, olive oil is healthy snack item

• Nutritious Bhel. Easiest! Light! & Delicious

• Omelette

• Red Rice Noodles

• For treat you can have Jam with chapati/brown bread

• Fruits

• Coconut water

• Drink refreshing lemon and cucumber drink.

• Lemonade

I hope these tips were helpful for you all because I tried my best to write the correct and effective tips instead of jotting down the points that don’t have a proper explanation. Everything written in this blog is effective if you follow correctly. Don’t worry if you’re gaining weight this quarantine! You still look adorable.

Take care !
