It is no surprise that this lockdown had a psychological effect on our mind.
We have been locked in our house for a while which means we were in our comfort zone for the past few months. I assume suddenly stepping out of the house will cause discomfort and social anxiety. We have been away from the outside world for months and it is normal to feel anxious when you step out to get back to your normal routine.
So in this blog I am going to give you 5 tips to manage social anxiety/life after lockdown
1. TAKE IT EASY!
It is absolutely normal to feel anxious when you step out of your comfort zone. So normalize that part and take it easy. Don’t rush or stress yourself or don’t pressurise yourself in anyway.
Keep in mind that you are not the only one out there who will feel anxious after the lockdown ends. It is not easy to get over a Pandemic. It takes time to get back to your normal life after three months and get used to your normal routine.
Follow these simple tips and it might help you to ease up your anxiety :
This means that you have to be very careful about investing your energy. Don’t involve yourself in difficult conversations that requires your energy (trust me you are going to need energy to get through the day).
Avoid conversations that drains you emotionally like avoid political topics. Don’t engage into another pandemic/endemic conversation. Remember that just like you everyone is trying to cope up with some kind of social anxiety.
Instead do this :
Surround yourself with positive topics
Try to talk about simple yet creative things
Keep your conversations healthy
Try to smile more
3. RESERVE YOUR ENERGY
Remember it is your first normal/busy day after lockdown. Be careful about where you invest your energy. Every small work might drain you. So make sure that you keep reminding yourself that whatever you are doing “Is it worth your energy?”
Here’s how you can reserve your energy:
Stay hydrated
Stick to your schedule for the first one week
Invest your energy in important tasks
Eat healthy
4. PLAN A SCHEDULE
This might sound boring but trust me this is going to be of great help. Sticking to your schedule/to-do-list/daily planner will keep you motivated for a long time. This way you will be investing your energy into something that is benefiting you in return.
Having a schedule will definitely keep you focused, clear, flexible and occupied. Having a to-do-lis is better than awkwardly being blank about what to do next.
5. BE POSITIVE (HAVE FUN)
Have a positive mindset and do not forget to have fun after the lockdown comes to an end. Please be positive. Being positive when you are anxious is a great instrument to deal with social anxiety.
I suggest you read my blog on Positive Self-Talk and I am sure it will help you to keep a positive mindset.
Do things that make you happy. Laugh more and try to create a positive environment wherever you go.

Positive self talk is a beautiful way to achieve success quickly. When you realise that you have the power and resources to grow, your life becomes more amazing.
When you are out talking with a bunch of people you will notice that after your conversations is over, your brain repeats the conversation and you bring those thoughts home along with you.
When you speak your brain registers that and creates a similar kind of energy.
Let’s say, there are two types of energy
Positive energy
Negative energy
A lot of times we talk negative that creates a negative energy which is the reason why almost all the time we are unhappy.
Benefits of Positive self talk are
Improves self confidence
Develops positive mindset
Provides good mental health
Feeling of satisfaction
Overall good physical health (You can’t control what happens in your life but you can control your reaction to it. If you can’t control your reaction to the situation you end up being in a place that is very difficult to come out from. If you don’t know to handle yourself in a negative situation there are chances that the trauma of that particular situation can have a negative impact on physical level as well)
Feeling of gratitude
So today I’m going to give you 5 power tips on how to do a positive self talk.
1. CHANGE THE TONALITY OF YOUR VOICE
Our brain is constantly working. Using a positive tone while doing a self talk will help your brain to generate a positive energy that you require to change your perspective towards any negative situation.
How we express ourselves through words repeatedly has a psychological effect on our brain.
Here’s an example. When you are frustrated you say something like “Argh this is completely useless. I should’ve never tried. I will never be successful”
Did you notice something?
Not only you are demotivating yourself but also also you are criticising yourself. You are certainly not appreciating the efforts that you invested in your work and eventually you become your own enemy.
So I think you don’t need an outsider to put you down because that is what you are doing.
Motivate yourself by using positive tone and say something like:
“You can do it”
“You have the potential to do it”
“Do not give up”
“Believe In Yourself”
“I like me”
“I’m on the right track”
“Everything will be fine”
“It’s Okay – Be positive”
By doing this you are creating a positive energy. You are appreciating yourself, learning from your mistakes and you are growing
2. PRACTICE POSITIVE MINDSET
It takes time to develop a strong positive mindset. A positive mindset is very different from what people perceive. It takes time, efforts, dedication and consistency to create one.
MEDITATION. Best way to practise positive mindset is to meditate. Studies have shown that meditation help in achieving a strong positive mindset. The reason why I emphasise on meditation is because it has lot of benefits. It reduces stress, anxiety, depression and generates kindness. It is the best way for you to feel good about yourself.
Meditating is refreshing for your mind. You feel light and it opens up lot of positive doors in your life that help you to overcome every negative situation.
Get comfortable
Put on a soothing music
Meditate
I personally prefer listening to Tai Chi music for meditation.
If you ever feel that you are tired and not ready for the day that is the exact time to practise positive mindset by using positive self talk and meditation.
USE YOUR SENSE OF HUMOUR AS A STRESS COPING MECHANISM. Doing this can help you understand that it is okay to not take life so seriously.
WRITE A POSITIVE JOURNAL. Make a habit of writing a positive journal regularly. Write all the positive things your eyes see every day. So even if you go through an unpleasant situation, you will somehow manage to find positivity in that situation. This help in understanding the essence of life. In a way you are training yourself to find positivity in every situation that will help you attain positive attitude towards everything.
3. CUT THOSE NEGATIVE PEOPLE OUT OF YOUR LIFE.
Toxic people are those kind of people who
Manipulate
Control
Emotionally abuse other people
Always act like a victim
Doesn’t believe in keeping boundaries
Doesn’t respect you
Constantly lies
Toxic people can really affect your mind.
Distance yourself from things that are poisonous to your mental health. Put an end to a toxic friendship. Take a break from a toxic relationship. True friends don’t do things that hurt you. True love feels like a true love.
When you surround yourself with people who make you feel disconnected with yourself, you start looking down on yourself. You start suppressing yourself. You start doubting your decisions. They’re views about you start penetrating your mind and your mind replays those negative thoughts every time you make a decision. Not only they are halting your growth but also you might encounter low self esteem.
Get rid of people or habits that are harming your inner peace.
“You are who you are. Don’t be ashamed of yourself. At all. Surround yourself with people who cheer you on.” ― Jessica Park, Flat-Out Celeste
4. PRAISE YOURSELF
One of the best way to practice positive self talk is to praise yourself. Surround yourself with as much as positivity as you can. Use an enthusiastic tone while praising yourself. Compliment yourself
When you praise yourself not only it generates a positive energy in you but you also start to expand your positive vibe.
When you praise yourself you are developing self confidence. You feel good about yourself. You start to appreciate yourself. You accept yourself. Don’t buy or do something with an intention to satisfy or please others.
Do it for yourself !
Appreciate yourself and understand the essence of happiness to a deeper level.
If you acknowledge the beauty in you and around you, the negative vibes will fade away.
“Self appreciation is a sign of maturity, seeking appreciation is a sign of immaturity” ― Sivaprakash Sidhu
5. CONVERT A NEGATIVE SITUATION INTO A POSITIVE ONE.
I understand it is not always easy to be positive in every situation.
Like I said earlier being positive is a slow process that requires dedication, consistency, hard-work and a very strong positive mindset.
On one hand that sounds tough.
But on the other hand if you see there are numerous motivational speakers teaching you to be positive in a negative situation because they have a good experienced about it. They know that it is important for you to be positive in a negative situation.
If you ever face setbacks in your life, remember you are one step closer to success. If you let your fear to face a negative situation control you then it will become difficult for you to achieve success because fear holds you back from doing great things.
The only way to achieve success is to not fear the failure.
If you ever encounter a negative situation, along with positive tone also do the following things:
Read biography of successful people and understand their strategy to overcome the hurdles in life
Connect with GOD
“The lotus comes from the murkiest water butgrows into the purest thing.” – Nita Ambani
So well these were the 5 powerful tips for you to practice positive self talk. It will take time but if you are consistent in practising these 5 simple steps I am sure that slowly you will welcome a positive change in your life.

Covid-19 might have triggered stress, anxiety, OCD, frustration, mood disorders, suicidal tendency, depression, fear, insomnia, etc. especially for those who are already suffering from mental health issues. Because of lockdown many psychiatry clinic are closed and they’re working through online consultation. Well that’s great! but not everywhere this system is open and not all psychiatrists are doing this. So guys I wanted to share some mental health tips from my side that you can follow to reduce stress during lockdown and stay happy and joyful.
1. PLAN A SCHEDULE AND MAINTAIN IT
A healthy schedule will bring productivity in your day which will help your mind as well as your body to stay active during lockdown period. Without a schedule you don’t know what to do next day and that is why majority of people are bored and boredom can lead to other mental health problems.
Having a schedule is extremely important as it keeps your body as well as mind organised in all aspects. It keeps you organised and occupied which keeps boredom, insomnia, mood disorders away from you.
“It takes both a plan and a schedule to get things done” – Peter Turla
2. MEDITATE
Meditation focuses on providing healthy mind. It makes you mentally and emotionally stable. Meditation clears your mind.
🌸Benefits of Meditation are
• Improves Concentration
• Positive mindset
• Reduce Anxiety
• Deeper understanding
• A feeling of well-being
🌸How to meditate
• Find a comfortable quiet place
• Close your eyes
• Breathe naturally
• Let your mind wander but don’t get involved in your thoughts your thoughts. Let your thoughts take you to places but don’t let it consume you completely.
• Listen to Relaxing music. I listen to Tai chi.
3. DON’T ISOLATE YOURSELF
I’ve seen many people isolating themselves in quarantine. No phone calls or text messages are being sent by them. No efforts are made by them. It’s absolutely fine to stay with yourself. But too much of something has always resulted in negative effect. So stay in touch with positive people. Socialise yourself. Call your close friends or family members and talk to them. Share your feelings with them if you trust them. It really helps. Surround yourself with positive people and positive things.
“Don’t isolate yourself by sitting in the back, isolate yourself by sitting in the front”
4. EAT HEATHY
Be careful what you put in your body. Try to stay away from unhealthy food. A study revealed that those who consumed more unhealthy food were more likely to develop severe psychological distress than those who consumed healthy food. Include fruits, vegetables, eggs in your diet.
“Eat Healthy, Stay Healthy”
I recently wrote a blog on “How to improve your immunity during quarantine “
Drinking water helps our mind to think clear. Dehydration can cause mood swings, unclear thoughts, inability to think bright, etc. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water everyday. Drinking water is an excellent way to support your mental health. Also it has amazing effects on your skin, body, etc
“Drinking water is like washing out your insides. The water will cleanse the system, fill you up, decrease your caloric load and improve the function of all your tissues” – Kevin R Stone
6. THINK POSITIVE
Try to develop a positive mindset. Once you start thinking positive it’s like you’re blocking all the negative thoughts away. When you start taking your mental health too seriously like way too much, it gives power to your depression to overtake your mind, because you’re convinced that there is nothing more important that your depressing and life is so much more than that. Think positive and KEEP REMINDING yourself that this is just temporary and everything will be fine. A person who is suffering from depression is not weak, he is brave and strong. Change the way you think and you will see a lot of good change in your life.
“Think Positive, Feel Positive, Live Positive”
7. AVOID NEGATIVE INFORMATION
Don’t stress yourself after seeing or hearing fake news. Listen from the experts only. Don’t involve yourself in debating topics where you have to argue whether the virus is natural or manmade. Don’t engage in political arguments which are not benefiting you in anyway. Arguing on unimportant topics might drain your energy, affect your mood, make you angry, and a lot of other things. Stick to the right information.
“Avoid negative people who threaten your peace of mind “
8. STAY HAPPY!
Because why not! What’s the use in staying unhappy, depressed anyway. Watch funny movies, comedy series. Read jokes online and follow funny meme pages. Watch something that will make you laugh. Do something that makes you happy. There is no point in staying unhappy. Be kind to yourself. Understand yourself.
“Happiness is Beautiful”
9. LOVE YOURSELF
Don’t be too harsh on yourself. Remember everyone makes mistakes in their life and that nobody is perfect. Forgive and just forget. Because unless and until you won’t stop your harsh behaviour towards yourself, how will you start loving yourself. So it’s my humble request to be kind on yourself & love yourself. You’ve made mistakes and that’s absolutely okay! Nobody is perfect, because being perfect is boring. Love Yourself 🌸
